How to Get Out of Debt

October 7th, 2009 by admin, No Comments

Being in debt is a terrible feeling that can seriously affect your psyche and the people around you. Here is what you need to do escape debt:

Stop increasing your debt. This is a no brainer really. If you keep on making more and more debt it will be impossible to pay it off.

Record your spending. This is a hard one. You definetly need to record what you are spending. This has two purposes. One is that you record your overall expenses, the other one is to so you are really aware where your money is going. Often we buy things on a daily basis and don’t think twice about but when we see black on white what it amounts to over the course of a month it makes us consider if it is really absolutely necessary. And yes, the Starbucks Frapuccino is in that category.

Categorize your spending. After you have recorded your spending you should sift through your expenditures and put them in categories. Categorize what you need and what you don’t need. Maybe make a third category with stuff that you need but can do without until your debt is paid off. You just have to ask yourself what is more important for you. Those things or the feeling and happiness of being debt free.

Get an overview over your debt. I know, I know. It can be really painful to look through all the bills and what not, but you absolutely have to get an overview of what you owe, and to whom. The next step is to prioritize your debt and bills and figure out which you are gonna pay off first and how much you can pay off every month.

A payday loan is a short-term loan that is meant to cover your financial needs until your next payday, or you otherwise are able to repay the loan. Payday loans are easy to get but come at the cost of a very high APR (nominal annual percentage rate) and EAR (effective annual rate). Nevertheless they can be very useful to cover your expenses for a short period of time if you don’t have other options.

Payday loans are also referred to as paycheck advance, payday advance, or cash advance.
